New HoSt Group headquarters under construction: back in Hengelo, Netherlands
It's hard to miss for anyone driving past the 'Oelerbrug' bridge in Hengelo. Where the Thales head office used to be and was a vacant lot in recent years, construction is now underway. Construction officially began recently on the new HoSt Group head office, located on the last available lot of the High Tech Systems Park at the Haaksbergerstraat. Completion of the construction is scheduled for the summer of 2026, the same year in which the technology-driven family business will celebrate its 35th anniversary.

Two phases
In two phases, the new headquarters will provide space for the fast-growing company whose mission is to help struggling industries become carbon-free. The first phase involves the construction of six floors, good for 400 workplaces. A second phase will bring the total to 800 workplaces. “At this new location, we can double in size in the near future by adding a new office wing. With this, the new facility facilitates the rapid growth we are undergoing and enables us to attract the expertise required for our ambitions,” said Jelle Klein Teeselink, CEO HoSt Group. “We look forward to further shaping the future of renewable energy at a location with so much technology and innovation nearby!”

High-tech systems
The new location at the High Tech Systems Park is in line with the high-tech renewable energy systems, especially for renewable energy and other useful end products from organic residues and waste, that HoSt Group designs and builds worldwide. The new building is a milestone for the company’s rapid growth. Although the company has been based at Kennispark Twente in Enschede since 2010, its historical roots are in Hengelo. After all, HoSt Group originated in 1991 from a collaboration between the well-known companies Holec Projects and Stork. The first activities took place from the Stork office in Hengelo, where founder Herman Klein Teeselink – an employee of Stork at the time – took over and corporatised the company in 1999.
“We expect our team to fully utilise the office capacity here right away, after which we will immediately proceed with the permit application for doubling. It is almost unimaginable, and of course fantastic, how we have grown from two employees in one office room to six hundred employees worldwide, spread over five of our own offices, two production sites and several energy production sites,” says founder Herman Klein Teeselink, who is also a member of the Supervisory Board and still actively engaged in project and product development.

Where technology meets ecology
A combination of high-tech, industrial, green and nature comes together this building. Striking on the outside is the green facade with climbing plants over the entire ground floor and first floor. Inside, this balance will be created by again using industrial elements, vertical gardens and four atriums (indoor gardens), of which the highest atrium occupies a space no less than six floors high. Also noteworthy is the energy façade: sun blinds and energy generation are integrated into it, and excess energy is converted into hot water that is stored in insulated water tanks.
HoSt Group is working together with Van der Jeugd Architecten, Brons Constructeurs & Ingenieurs, PRE-engineering, Ter Brugge Bouw and Lammerink Installatiegroep for the realisation of the new office.
